Blake Griffin will haunt the 76ers for quite some time after his performance on Tuesday night. Griffin scored a career-high 50 points, and he hit the game-winning shot in overtime to lift the Pistons to victory.

On the same night that the opening to the World Series was taking place, it was Blake Griffin that stole the show in the sports world. Against the NBA sweetheart Philadelphia 76ers, Griffin scored a career-high 50 points, he grabbed 14 rebounds, and he hit the game-winning shot to seal the Piston’s 133-132 win on Tuesday.

Along with Griffin’s career-night came some highlight plays. Griffin turned back the clock and dunked on the outspoken Joel Emiid late in the fourth quarter. He showed his improved range as he drained five shots from beyond the arc. And Griffin not only made the game-winning shot in overtime but he also hit the shot to send the game into overtime in the first place. Griffin’s performance is even more impressive knowing that many of his makes came against Embiid, who finished as a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year last season.

In overtime, Griffin made sure his big night wouldn’t be spoiled by anyone. When JJ Reddick hit an and-one three-pointer that put up the 76ers 132-130 with 10 seconds left, Griffin returned the favor on the following possession. He wasn’t going down just yet. Griffin answered with an and-one of his own that sealed the victory for the Pistons.

Not only did Griffin put up big numbers, but he did it efficiently. Griffin shot 57 percent (20-for-35) from the floor, 50 percent from three-point range (5-of-10) and he became only the ninth player in NBA history to put up 50 points and 14 rebounds. He joined elite company, such as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, and Elgin Baylor.

Before the season, ESPN projected the Pistons as the eight seed in the Eastern Conference. But with how Griffin is playing right now, he has the Pistons at 3-0 and ready for anyone.
